swackett X — weather, fashion and fun App Reviews

Fairly good but

Too bad local or regional radars are not available in France.

great app but..

this is a great app and it has really improved although i really think that you should include in app purchasing for your packages to get different dressing styles so lease take this in account

Fun, Yet Practical

What an amazing weather app! Its got a unique visual style, it looks great and it seems very accurate. Sure, its not free (but there is a free but ad-supported version) but its cheap anyhow. It also plays nice with OS X Lion, offering up a full-screen mode that works quite well! The only real complaint I have about this app is the fact that the weather warnings and watches dont actually work for Canada, but Im sure thats not exactly their fault. If youre tired of those other and fairly plain weather apps, grab this one, you wont (probably) regret it!

Once good, now great

The features included in the latest update are things a lot of people (myself included) have been asking for. The dev team wasted no time in getting them put together and pushed out to users, and for that they deserve major props. This is probably the best and most informative weather application available on the Mac. I have no hesitation in recommending it to any and all weather junkies.

Swackett X in Canada

This works in Canada but the watches and warnings dont work at all still. Everything else feels the same as the regular edition, just without the ads.

Bit of a waste

Watches and warnings arent supported in Canada yet. Looks the same as the free version except for the adds being gone

Weather Readings Not Correct In Ontario Canada

On the Weather Network it shows that in Oakville Ontario that it is 29 degrees Celcius. Swackett X shows the weather temp at 24 degrees Celcius. I have had problems on an on going basis getting the correct weather readings with Swackett X. Even though I love this program, something needs to be done to fix it. I complained before and it seemed ok after. Now it is acting up again. I would not recommend buying this program until someone in the company fixes it.

Save your money.

Rather disappointed in this. Sure, its cute, its a novel idea, but realistically, its worthless and I can get better/quicker information regarding local weather from numerous other apps.

Decent app, but buggy, and ABYSMAL (non -existent) customer support

The app itself is kinda fun and funky. I like the graphics, and I like the dog-walking stats (given that I have a dog!). However: a few days ago, the icon on my Dock was showing a count of 1. I checked the app, and the "Warnings" icon also showed a count of 1. When I clicked on that page to read the warning, I got a message saying that watches and warnings for my area couldnt be displayed. I checked a couple of weather sites: there were NO warnings for anyplace anywhere near me that day. I unchecked the box that said "Display watches and warnings." When I left that page, then went back: the box was checked again. No matter what I tried, there was no way to find out what the icon badge was trying to alert me to; and there was no way to clear it. I have OCD. This is a big problem. I submitted a support request via the dev website, then asked them on Twitter how long it should take to get a reply. They answered a couple of times, saying the matter was best handled through a support request. A week later, I have had no reply to the support request. Every day, I tweet them again, telling them I still havent had a reply. They are ignoring my tweets. This is not how customers should be treated, when they have paid for an app. Do not buy this app. Clearly, there are bugs wrt to watches and warnings. And if you ask for help through appropriate channels, it appears that you will get no help whatsoever. I dont like slamming devs in app store feedback - but these guys have ignored me completely, and this bad review is what they deserve by treating me with disdain and disrespect.

Swackett Servers Stopped Working

Nice, fun little app, until last week when Swackett turned off their servers - the app only occasionaly connects at this time. You might want to wait until they either get things working, or go out of business...

Just what I needed, but high CPU usage in Lion

I liked the free Swackett. Pretty. Got the info I need. But Ive grown used to Lions full-screen mode and free Swackett didnt support that. Was happy to pay the paltry $3 for that full-screen Lion compatibility, and happy to support working developers. But there is one slight problem: In Full Screen, when not the current app, its still using CPU (probably to display fast-animating radar images). Fix that, so that my machine can run silent with Swackett running, and thisll be a 4-star app. Add warnings and alerts at some level more specific than state, and thisll be a 5-star app :)

Maybe my favorite app!

I discovered the free version while browsing the then new App Store on my Mac. I recommeded it to anyone who would listen. Now this edition, optimized for Lion, is definately one of the best exploitations of the new OS X 10.7 and I only wish there were versions now for iPad and iPhone so I would have it with me everywhere. Its also a cool way to demo the Lion UI for any skeptics in the audience. Thanks to the team that builds and supports this great little app! Added note, try the "Speech" option under Edit menu for a nice spoken and detailed weather report. and note the current temp in menu bar with drop down forecast!

The best weather app

Swackett provides an intuitive and refreshing new way to view the weather. I loved the free app, and I instantly jumped on the 3 dollar app once it became available. I love swackett! I highly recommend it!! I am proud to support the development of this great application.

Looks great and is super helpful

This is so easy to use that anyone can do it. It performs so well on Lion when some other apps *cough angry birds, have fallen apart (could just be me though) It has a nice colourful look to it and the live radar at the bottom with 4 different levels on magnification (example: Midwest, Minnesota, Minneapolis, and a satelite image) so you can see the weather in a more exact location. Highly recommended, had to pass up for $2.99

Awesome

I like this weather application a lot.. Now I like to check the weather more to see what the people dress up like.

Go-to App for Weather

This is a beautiful weather app - Swackett X - has no overt ads, and it provides significant information including watches, warnings, and illustrations of what to wear given the weather conditions for the day.

Greatness!!!

Very Inventive App. I wish most developers re thought their apps like these guys.

Rain chance

Love the app.. tells me everything I need to know except the percentage chance of rain.. being from the southeast where it rains a lot, knwoing the percentage is very helpful.. still give it 5 stars but would like to see that added with the next update

Couple of things missing

I think Swackett X is a pretty nice application and I really like the interface and the design elements but there are two important shortcomings: 1. In full-screen mode on Mac OS X Lion, the applications consumes about 20-25% of the CPU. This is not ideal. I would prefer that there be an option to turn off the animated radar maps (or make them static, refreshed only on clicking). 2. The chance of preciptation is absolutely essential for me and a weather app that does not have this information is not entirely useful.

its good, but not altogether the most useful

I want to be clear, this app is very good and I enjoy it very much. I dinged it a star, however, because the main screen that gives you the forecast by way of the little peeple, or whatever theyre called, defaults on "todays forecast." Which would be okay, except when its night out, it makes no sense. Id like to be able to decide what the default openning screen is (either, like, current conditions, or the forecast). I know this is nit-picky, but its unclear what forecast Im looking at. This shouldnt be too hard of a revision.
